Speak up about side effects
HIV medications can cause side effects in some people. In many cases, the side effects occur when someone starts or switches antiretrovirals and go away over time. Examples of side effects from HIV meds include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, fatigue and weight gain. Check the prescribing info of the medications you take for a complete list. If you are experiencing side effects that don’t go away and affect your quality of life, talk to your doctor. Your health care provider may be able to prescribe something to help manage the symptoms or change your treatment plan.
