Liver Cells Do Not Have Nerves

The liver is made up of specialized cells called hepatocytes. These cells don’t have nerves, so the liver doesn’t feel pain. The liver is called a non-complaining organ because it can’t use pain to alert us that something is wrong. When people feel discomfort in the area if their liver, they may be feeling a double-layered membrane that encases the liver.
